Introduction: Championing Holistic, Culturally Responsive Mental Health Care in New York

In today's world, mental health care is no longer a luxury, but a fundamental necessity. At Blanton-Peale, we're committed to providing affordable, accessible and culturally responsive mental health services that address the whole person. We celebrate diversity in our approach to treatment, the backgrounds of our clients and the diversity of our therapists.

Blanton-Peale therapists are experts in a wide range of evidence-based therapies, tailoring their approach to each individual's unique needs. Our services encompass talk therapy, complementary psychiatric services, openness to a client’s experience of spirituality, and a focus on fostering resilience. In 2023 alone, we provided over 33,000 sessions of care to New Yorkers in need.

Our commitment to excellence extends to training the next generation of mental health professionals. Blanton-Peale is a sought-after training ground for early-career and seasoned social workers, counselors, psychiatrists, and psychoanalysts. Under the guidance of our expert supervisors, they gain invaluable experience working with a diverse clientele.

Fall 2024 marks the fourth year of our BIPOC Fellows Program. The program recruits advanced year BIPOC graduate students in social work and provides rigorous training, community building, opportunity to work with BIPOC patients, and a scholarship to help cover graduate school expenses.

This legacy of innovation stems from our founders, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and Dr. Smiley Blanton. Pioneering the integration of mental health and spiritual care during the Great Depression, they recognized the profound impact both aspects have on human well-being. We continue their mission, ensuring that everyone has access to the support they deserve to heal, grow, and flourish.
